The Rat Ring is a webring designed to link websites for rat owners, about rats, or even by rats.... as long as your website fulfils all the following criteria you are very welcome to join:

  • The main topic of the website must be domesticated rats
  • The website and all sites linked to must be 100% child-safe
  • No links-only or advertising-only sites will be accepted
  • Before your site can be accepted you must place the webring link on your site (see below)
  • You must submit the URL for the exact page on which you place the link - this is VERY important!
  • The webmaster reserves the right to reject any site she considers unsuitable for whatever reason.

To use the WebRing javascript "NavBar" (easiest) go to this page and simply click on the "join this ring" link at the top right of the ring hub page and follow the on-screen instructions. If you are already a member of WebRing (that is, you have already joined other WebRing rings) and have already installed the java NavBar you do NOT need to install it again - the system will automatically add the navigation for the Rat Ring as soon as your site has been approved. PLEASE NOTE : you cannot customise the java NavBar.

If you prefer to use the HTML version of the ring link (fairly straightforward) it will look like this .....

You can get the HTML from the Webring "Get NavBar" page after you have submitted your site (there is a link at the bottom of the javascript page) or you can copy the HTML shown below :

To have the ring link exactly the same as the one shown, simply copy the HTML exactly as it is from the text box above (highlight the text within the box - left-click anywhere within the box then right-click to bring up a drop-down menu and click on "select all" - and when the text is all selected, right-click again and select "copy" or Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) into the page whose URL you will submit : this can be a designated Webrings or Links page or your site's Home Page but you must submit the correct URL for the page with the ring link on or your site cannot be linked in to the ring. You must also add your site's ID number in place of the five asterisks (*****) - this is very important - and also copy the webring image (the SECOND from the left in the selection below) to your own server with the name RatRing2.jpg (right-click on the image and select "Save Picture As.")

If you wish to customise the ring link to match your web page this is relatively simple : you can use a different image (see the selection above) - it must be 50x50 pixels and you must copy it (right-click/select Save Picture As) and upload it to your server; you will also need to replace the image name in the image tag <img src="RatRing2.jpg"> with the name of the actual image used. If you don't it will not show on your page.

You can also change the background colour of the ring link to match or tone with your page but don't forget to use a colour on which your page's text colour still shows up. You can alter the text colour but this is getting a bit more complex and not really necessary if you stick to toning colours. There are literally millions of colours to choose from, each with its own unique hexadecimal (six-figure/letter) code, or you can select one of the examples below : substitute the code below it for the one in the bgcolor tag on the second line of the HTML (where it says bgcolor=#FFCCFF)

If you do decide to customise your ring link, please let me know so that I can visit your site again to have a look at it, and if you design your own image and are willing to share it, please send it to me so I can add it to this page.
